These are some of the first-ever drawings of Fred as I was trying to get a feel for what he would look like and how he would move. Fred is super fun to draw, but very hard because he lacks specific expressive elements, such as eyebrows, that really bring out the nuance in an expression. To compensate, his body will bend, stretch and pull to give you an idea of whatever kooky thing he may be feeling. Learning to manipulate his expressions was essential.
Although there is no date on these I know they were drawn back in summer of 2011, right around the time I decided Fred needed to be a regular character in the comic.
